Solubilization of Eucalyptus citriodora essential oil and citronellal in deep eutectic solvents:water:cyclodextrins mixtures

Essential oils (EOs) offer interesting biological properties that can be altered by their high volatility and low solubility. This study examined, for the first time, effect of combination different choline chloride (ChCl) based-deep eutectic solvents (DESs), water cyclodextrins (CDs) on retention solubilization Eucalyptus citriodora EO its major component, citronellal. The density, viscosity polarity newly prepared DES:water:CD mixtures were measured. influence content, DES type composition as well CD concentration capacity investigated using static headspace-gas chromatography. Results showed mixture composed chloride:urea (ChCl:U) (1:2 molar ratio) DES:water (70:30 wt%) in presence presented highest capacity. Finally, formation constant (Kf) values CD/citronellal inclusion complexes vapor-liquid partition coefficients citronellal determined ChCl:U 70:30 wt%.
